Carolina NA-YGN Attends Chapel Hill Town Meeting
Published by October 3rd, 2006 in Public Information.Members of the Carolina Chapter of NA-YGN attended the Chapel Hill Town Council meeting on Wednesday, September 27, 2006. The Town Council was proposing a resolution to recommend to the NRC that they “refuse to consider any ‘early relicensing’” of Progress Energy’s Shearon Harris plant until the plant has been brought into full compliance with NRC fire regulations. This resolution was unanimously passed at the end of the meeting.

Nuclear Fact Sheet: Safety of Commercial Nuclear Power Plants

This fact sheet covers the industry’s continuing emphasis on safe operation, risk-informed decision making, and improved industry-wide communication. Fact sheet - Nuclear Safety [pdf]
The PI committee plans to continue developing a series of fact sheets with the aim of providing objective information about hot nuclear topics. The next fact sheet will cover on-site fuel storage. The next fact sheet should be released in approximately one month and will be available to download.
