USC Nuclear Industry Career Fair

As a follow-up event to the USC Symposium, Carolina Chapter YGN is also co-sponsoring a Nuclear Industry Career Fair for the USC engineering students. Please contact Zachary Ashcraft if you are interested in helping out with this event.

When: March 23, 2007
Time: 10am to 3pm
Where: Swearingen Lobby, College of Engineering
301 Main St, Columbia, SC 29208 (next to the California Dreaming Restaurant)

The purpose of the Nuclear Industry Career Fair is to give the students and the Nuclear Industry a convenient way to connect with each other. The students of the University of South Carolina have been developing the skills that the Nuclear Industry will need to support the industry for the future as current engineers retire and more plants are constructed. The ultimate goal of the informational session and career fair is to introduce a career path that has not been revealed to the engineering students of USC before.

The session will be open to all engineering students and NA-YGN will be on hand to answer student questions and facilitate the event. There will be refreshments provided and we will be implementing a “Passport” style fair to encourage students to visit each table. In a Passport fair each student would receive a ’stamp’ for visiting each organization’s booth. After they have completed their visits, they can place their passports into a box whereby prizes would be drawn during the event.
For the recruitment session, we have received firm participation from the following organizations: Constellation, UniStar Nuclear, Westinghouse, SCE&G, Southern Nuclear Savannah River National Laboratory, Washington Group International and INPO.
