Carolina NA-YGN recently sent a member to the 2007 American Nuclear Society Winter Conference. For this conference, “Making the Renaissance Real”, nuclear professionals from around the country met (November 11th-17th) in Washington, D.C. Lectures hinged upon the theme of the current revival of interest in nuclear power as the cleanest, most cost effective answer to our nation’s energy needs. In the run-up to the week’s events, the ANS YMG (Young Members Group) partnered with NA-YGN to present the Young Professionals Congress, a series of lectures examining many of the challenges of today’s nuclear industry with a particular focus on the young professionals’ roles and the opportunities they are likely to have over the course of their careers.

Update 9/12/06: The Spokesperson Training Workshop was a success! This training was held on August 16, 2006 and was a half-day workshop which taught you how to present your arguments while “keeping your cool” in a debate, anti-nuclear press conference, or other high-pressure environment.

The Carolina YGN Chapter will begin our mentoring program, entitled Bridge the Divide by the begining of July. Bridge the Divide provides the opportunity for managers to work closely with Carolina YGN members. Each mentee will be paired up with a mentor from a different site. This program will help close the generational gap by developing a mentoring culture that supports knowledge sharing, leadership, and professional development. The mentors and mentees will meet a minumum of once every other month. This is a great opportunity for Carolina YGN members!
For more info and to download an application see the Mentoring Program page.
Our chapter was featured in the NA-YGN’s official newsletter, GoNuke! The article details our activities leading up to and following our initial chapter founding. Read the article composed by Public Information chair Desmond Beatty by clicking the link below.
